Building on a legacy that dates back to 1827, Dixon provides an extensive array of products for educational, office, and industrial applications. We collaborated with Dixon to deliver a modern packaging redesign and visual refresh optimized for modern e-commerce environments. Featuring an updated visual identity, an high-contrast color palette, and custom pattern graphics, the design system was crafted to establish a strong digital shelf presence while creating clear visual distinction across Dixon’s diverse product lines.
Package ReDesign
Dixon pencils carry a long heritage as a trusted staple in classrooms nationwide and a familiar brand for standardized testing. Building on the equity of the established Dixon brand, the updated packaging design balances vibrant visual energy with consumer approachability. Featuring clean visual hierarchy paired with high-contrast accent colors, the system was crafted to maximize visibility across both retail shelves and e-commerce platforms. This updated packaging framework was successfully rolled out across multiple SKUs within the Dixon product portfolio.
Identity Refresh
Updating the packaging wordmark was a key element of the redesign process. By applying precise refinements to the established typography, we created a clean, crisp update that preserves the core equity and recognition of the legacy brand. The central dividing line from the original wordmark inspired the dual-color block layout used across the new packaging, using high-contrast framing to elevate brand visibility and structure on the retail shelf.
Custom Pattern System
To ensure the new packaging design system could seamlessly scale across diverse product lines, we created a flexible suite of custom patterns. Drawing visual inspiration from the physical products themselves—such as pencils, fasteners, and desktop accessories—these distinct graphics provide a cohesive, dynamic element that can be adapted across a wide variety of packaging formats.
