Full Colour Printing - Technical Tips"Technical Information" A detailed list of Technical Resources can be found in our Print Price Guide. Here are a few of the basics for those of you who are new to our design and print service. We accept files mainly via upload, email or on CD. We prefer to receive your camera ready artwork as a PDF file, but we can accept a range of software programmes which include: Adobe Acrobat, Adobe illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, Corel Draw, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Publisher and Quark Express. All images or bitmap elements of your design should be inserted at 300dpi size for size and layers should be flattened before sending the artwork to us. It is important to flatten layers before creating a PDF which you intend to send to us for printing. It may be useful to refer to www.printinfo.co.uk to check for any other programme specific advice. Please supply everything 'one-up'. It is more successful if you leave us to sort out the imposition for printing. e.g. Provide one business card on a 85mm x 55mm page. Booklets should either be in separate files for each page or number order pages (we will sort out the printers pairs). Images, background colours and fills which are intended to print to the trimmed edge of the page should be extended 3mm beyond the edge of the page to give a 'bleed'. This allows for tolerances in the cutting process. Text, boxes and other areas you need on your finished job should be 5mm in from the edges of the page. We carry all popular fonts used on Mac and PC. It is recommended that all fonts/text be converted to curves or embedded in your document, where possible. Photographs and other scanned images should be scanned size for size at 300dpi and saved as CMYK images. The only exception to the CMYK rule is images for Hexachrome printing which should be sent as RGB. For further advice, please don't hesitate to contact us.. |
